Physician Discharge Information:
After initial placement of the RAPID RHINO◊ device, have your patient sit for 20 – 30 minutes to allow time for the patient’s swelling to recede. After this time, confirm that the pilot cuff is still firm and that the device is secure in the nasal cavity. It may be necessary to further inflate the pilot cuff to ensure a proper fit.
Explain to your patient that they should seek medical care immediately if they begin to feel weak, unbalanced, dizzy, experience shortness of breath, have trouble standing or begin to experience an additional epistaxis event.
Advise your patient to not pull on the RAPID RHINO pack and to seek care should the pack become loose. Be sure to tape the pilot cuff to the patient’s nose/cheek to prevent aspiration of the device.
